Chronic Renal Failure is a disease Which characterized by the inability of our kidneys vital function for our health and the subsequent accumulation of dangerous substances (such as urea, creatinine, uric acid) for our health in the body. The increasing frequency in recent years has become a public health problem due to the negative effects on patient survival and the high cost of treatment. Such that the negative effects on the survival of the patient is worse than many cancer diseases. In our country, by the end of 2016 more than 73 thousand patients with chronic renal failure are available.
Unfortunately, there isn't any ideal treatment of chronic renal failure. The closest treatment to the ideal is kidney transplantation. But both organ donation is inadequate and some patients are not suitable for organ transplantation, kidney transplantation cannot be performed in every patient and dialysis treatments are applied instead of kidney transplantation.
Dialysis treatments are generally examined under two main categories.
Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis at the Center
Hemodialysis at Home
Peritoneal dialysis in our hospital,
Hemodialysis services have been continuing for more than 20 years. Finally, a total of 95 chronic hemodialysis patients with 25 + 1 hemodialysis devices are followed up and treated in our unit. In addition, hemodialysis services are provided to approximately 50 patients who apply to the Nephrology Department of our hospital due to nephrology needs from the neighboring districts and provinces.
Home hemodialysis applications in recent years, began to be used more often due to the positive results in chronic renal failure patients. Patient satisfaction is significantly increased by preventing patients from spending a long period of their daily lives in the hospital. After the basic therapy services are given to the patients, all the systems that will continue the application of hemodialysis to the patient's home are established, and then the patient applies the hemodialysis at home. Hemodialysis unit has been established and licensed in our hospital since 2016. Finally, the hemodialysis service of our 13 patients is continuing at home and approximately 5 patients are at home during training for hemodialysis.
Peritoneal Dialysis; providing a more flexible diet and a more free life is an important dialysis application because it reduces the patient's dependence on the hospital. Peritoneal dialysis is not performed in all centers, it is less known than others. Our hospital has a peritoneal dialysis license for almost six years. Currently, the follow-up and treatment of 27 peritoneal dialysis patients is performed in our unit.
There is no kidney transplantation in our hospital yet. However, follow-up and treatment of renal transplant patients and drug level measurements can be made.
Nephrology and Dialysis Services in Our Hospital; 25 inpatient inpatient services, 25 + 1 inpatient hemodialysis unit, home hemodialysis unit, peritoneal dialysis unit and two polyclinics have been carried out. These services are carried out with 3 nephrology specialists in the Department of Nephrology and two hemodialysis physicians in our Dialysis Unit.
There are 11 Hemodialysis Technicians, four Hemodialysis Technicians, one peritoneal dialysis nurse, one home dialysis nurse and 11 hemodialysis nurses, one of which is in charge. In addition, there are seven allied health personnel and two secretaries.
